SIMIS Seminar on Field Theory and String Theory: Mirror symmetry via Floer theoretic invariants with support

Speaker: Umut Varolgunes

Abstract: I will outline an approach to mirror symmetry where the A-side is a symplectic CY manifold “symplectically cut” into certain small pieces and the B-side is a non-archimedean analytic space glued from Floer theoretic invariants of those pieces. This suggests a clear path for conceptual explanations to homological mirror symmetry and genus 0 closed string mirror symmetry that is compatible with the SYZ philosophy. If there is time, I will discuss the higher genus story which remains a puzzle. Partly based on joint works with Abouzaid-Groman and Deshmukh.
