Physical Math Seminar @SIMIS: Lagrangian A-branes counting with exponential networks

Speaker: Sibasish Banerjee Abstract: In this talk I will review a generalization of the spectral networks, known as exponential networks, which produce enumerative invariants associated to special Lagrangians in certain Calabi-Yau threefolds. Applications will include the computation of the exact spectrum for the mirror of the local Hirzebruch surface. There will also be a sketch of …

SIMIS Seminar series on Quantum computing, Quantum simulation and Strongly-correlated systems: A tale about discovery of quantum $E_{8}$ particles in quantum material $BaCo_{2}V_{2}O_{8}$

Speaker: Jianda Wu (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Branch of Hefei National Laboratory) Abstract: Exotic thermodynamics and excitations can emerge in the vicinity of a quantum phase transition. In the talk, I will first detailedly discuss the unique quantum criticality for the Grüneisen ratio in the transverse field Ising chain (TFIC). The unique quantum criticality …

SIMIS seminar on Derived and Noncommutative Geometry: On the D-module of an isolated singularity

Speaker: Thomas Bitoun (University of Calgary) Abstract: Let Z be the germ of a complex hypersurface isolated singularity of equation f. We consider the family of analytic D-modules generated by the powers of 1/f and relate it to the pole order filtration on the top cohomology of the complement of {f=0}. Time: 13:00~16:00, Wednesday, Feb. …

SIMIS Seminar on Algebraic Geometry: Variation of archimedean zeta function and n/d-conjecture for generic multiplicities

Speaker: Quan Shi (Tsinghua University) Abstract: b-function is one of the most important invariant in the D-module theory, whose roots are very difficult to determine. In this talk, I will review a classical strategy using archimedean zeta function and provide a way to variate the powers. As an application, n/d-conjecture is proven for generic multiplicities. …
