Abstract: This will be an introductory and organization talk for a joint reading seminar with Guozhen Wang, on continuous K-theory in the sense of Alexander Efimov. In brief, “continuous” K-theory is an extension of algebraic K-theory to a certain nice class of well-behaved large categories for which the classical construction of algebraic K-theory does not apply. In particular, this allows ideas of algebraic K-theory to be applied to certain problems in topology and analysis (both real and non-archimedean).
