The Quantum Connection and Its Discontents

Abstract: The quantum connection is a basic object coming from enumerative geometry. It’s fun to study in a hands-on 19th century way, as a linear differential equation, and relevant both to algebraic and symplectic geometers. I will try to motivate why it’s important geometrically, and mention some recent progress, which still falls far short of where we would like to be in our understanding of it.
