Abstract: Given a hyperbolic surface, we are interested in analyzing the escape rates of geodesic trajectories on it with various initial directions. For this purpose, we define escape rate spectra for the geodesic flow on a hyperbolic surface. After some discussions about the general case, we shall restrict our attention to a special class of hyperbolic surfaces, namely what we call the hyperbolic Z-covers of quotient surfaces of generalized Schottky groups. We shall present our results on the escape rate spectra for the hyperbolic Z-covers of quotient surfaces of generalized Schottky groups. This talk is based on a joint work with Johannes Jaerisch (Nagoya University).
