Speaker: Liu Weihua (Zhejiang University)
Host: Huaxin Lin
Abstract: Free probability theory is a mathematical branch established by Voiculescu, originating from introducing the philosophy of probability theory into the classification problem of the von Neumann algebras of free groups. In this talk, I will introduce the emergence and development process of free probability theory, as well as the relevant achievements of this theory in the classification problem of von Neumann algebras. Finally, based on the recent developments of this theory, the prospects and problem challenges will be introduced.
