2024 Fall: Infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and vertex operator algebras

Lecturer: Valerii Sopin

Course Description:

This course contains a description of representations of a variety of infinite dimensional Lie algebras (Heisenberg algebra, Virasoro algebra, algebra of infinite matrices and etc) in the space of semi-infinite forms. Moreover, introduction to Kac-Moody Lie algebras is given (the Sugawara construction and the GKO construction are discussed).

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the theory of infinite–dimensional Lie algebras and vertex operator algebras. We will discuss the basic definitions and constructions, as well as the main applications.
