SIMIS String Math Seminar: Foams and their applications to link homology

Abstract: We explain how a suitable evaluation of foams in 3-space leads to a categorification of networks of intertwiners for the quantum group GL(N) and to a categorification of the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev GL(N) invariants of links for level 1 representations.
