BIO

Shu-Cheng Chang is a professor at Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences. He Graduated from Rice University in the United States in 1990. From 1990 to 2007, he served as an associate professor and professor in the Department of Mathematics at Tsinghua University in Taiwan. From 2008 to 2023, he served as a professor in the Department of Mathematics, National Taiwan University. From 2023 to 2025, he served as a distinguished professor at the Mathematical Sciences Research Center, Chongqing University of Technology.

He published more than 70 scientific papers in outstanding mathematics journals. He first invented the CR Bochner formula and confirm the CR Obata Conjecture on a closed Sasakian manifold as in Math Ann., JGA. Then he derived the CR Li-Yau gradient estimate and matrix Li-Yau-Hamilton estimates for curvature tensors for the CR heat equation as in JDG, Math Ann., CAG, JGA, Mathematische Zeitschrift.  Recently, His prominent works is to confirmed parts of CR analogue of Yau uniformization conjecture on Sasakian manifolds as in Crelle Journal, IMRN, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations, and the Smale conjecture for the area-preserving contactomorphism on the Sasakian sphere, Hamilton-Tian Conjecture for the Sasaki-Ricci flow on manifolds of dimension five.

He won the Taiwan Mathematical Society Academic Award in 2015 for his outstanding research on Sasakian geometry and 2017 ICCM Distinguished Paper Awards.
