Quasi-representations and Controlled K-homology

Date: Friday, March 21th

Time: 1:00-2:00 pm

Venue: Room 1402

Speaker: Shaocong Xiang (East China Normal University)

Host: Zijing Wang

Abstract:

This talk examines the application of the residually finite-dimensional (RFD) condition in the proof of Theorem 4.2 from Rufus Willett’s work on conditional representation stability and eta invariants. The discussion centers on how the RFD property, combined with the Universal Coefficient Theorem (UCT) and the Local Lifting Property (LLP), facilitates the approximation of unitary quasi-representations by genuine representations for certain groups.

About the speaker:

Shaocong Xiang is a doctoral candidate at East China Normal University, and his supervisor is Professor Hang Wang. His research interest lies in the field of noncommutative geometry. His work has centered on the Baum-Connes conjecture and the equivariant index theorem.
