Physical Math Seminar @SIMIS: Deforming and Uplifting Veneziano

Speaker: Christian Jepsen (KIAS)

Abstract: In recent years, the S-matrix bootstrap has been exploring possible generalizations of string theory amplitudes from a bottom-up approach. In this talk I will discuss aspects of two such generalizations of the Veneziano amplitude: I will demonstrate that the q-deformed Veneziano amplitude known as the Coon amplitude is in fact secretly non-unitary. And I will show how the hypergeometric r-deformation of the Veneziano amplitude due to Cheung and Remmen secretly turns out to relate to an uplift of worldsheets to world(hyper)volumes.
