Abstract:

To distinguish knots, one usually uses knot invariants. In this talk, I will introduce knot invariants coming from the quantized universal enveloping algebra of sl(N). Their building blocks are the so called quantum R-matrices forming a certain representation of the braid group. R-matrices are expressed through their eigenvalues and quantum 6j-symbols. I will describe all these notions, provide some my results and those of my research group and outline several further directions of research in the subjects under review.
