Abstract:

In a recent work, Guo–Wang–Zhang developed a relative index theory and proved that the coarse Novikov conjecture holds for finite products of coarse disjoint unions of spaces admitting a certain fibred coarse embedding property.  In this talk, we refine and extend their result by removing the coarse disjoint union assumption on the factors.  A key new ingredient in our approach is an iterated higher index theory, together with a detailed analysis of its relationship with the relative index map constructed above. This is a joint work with Liang Guo and Qin Wang.
