New insight on halo-galaxy connection: from large-scale structure to the galaxy scale

Abstract: In the current concordance CDM paradigm, the dark matter halo is the framework to study the large-scale structure in the universe, testing the standard cosmological model, and understanding the galaxy formation process. First, I present the relationship between the large-scale environment and the formation/evolution of dark matter halos. Our research reveals that the large-scale tidal field plays a crucial role in governing various evolutionary aspects of dark matter halos, leading to phenomena such as halo secondary bias and halo alignment. Next, I focus on how dark matter halos influence galaxy formation, including their impact on the morphology and star formation rate evolution of high-redshift galaxies, as well as their role in the evolution of dwarf galaxies.
