Abstract:
Khintchine’s theorem is one of the fundamental theorems in Diophantine approximation. I will discuss recent joint work with Timothée Bénard and Weikun He, in which we resolve questions of Mahler in 1984 and Kleinbock-Lindenstrauss-Weiss in 2004 concerning Khintchine’s theorem for self-similar measures. For this, we establish an effective equidistribution theorem for associated random walks in the space of unimodular lattices.
