Abstract: Ion channel dynamics in multi-timescale systems are complex and can be effectively studied using Geometric Singular Perturbation Theory (GSPT), which separates slow and fast processes. In this talk, I will discuss the electrodiffusion dynamics in ionic channels through Poisson-Nernst-Planck models in a quasi-one-dimensional membrane channel. We use GSPT to analyze systems with permanent charges and mobile ions. Additionally, we introduce AI-powered Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to enhance the numerical solution of these models, leveraging machine learning to improve accuracy and computational efficiency.
