Speaker: Ryszard Nest (University of Copenhagen)
Host: Huaxin Lin
Abstract: We will review the triangulated structure of the “decorated” KK-category, associated applications of homological algebra and examples including Baum-Connes conjecture for locally compact groups, compact quantum groups and to some closure properties of the UCT category.
Time: 16:00-17:00 pm, Thursday, April 17
Location: Room 1410, SIMIS
About the speaker: Professor Ryszard Nest is an expert in operator algebras and noncommutative geometry, currently serving as an Emeritus Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where he previously directed the Center for Noncommutative Geometry. His research focuses on index theory, noncommutative geometry, and mathematical physics, with groundbreaking contributions to cyclic cohomology theory, algebraic index theorems, and the Baum-Connes conjecture. He has published multiple papers in well-known mathematical journals such as Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Études Sci., Acta Mathematica, etc. Professor Nest also serves as an editorial board member of the Journal of Noncommutative Geometry and has organized over 30 major international conferences on noncommutative geometry and operator algebras.
