Seminar on Geometric Analysis and Its Applications: Non-Archimedean pseudo-differential operators motivated from p-adic strings

Speaker: An Huang (Brandeis University)

Abstract: What is the p-adic counterpart of the derivative operator, or the Laplacian operator? I shall describe a number of Non-Archimedean pseudo-differential operators arising in part from considerations in p-adic string theory. I shall explain the connections to Tate’s thesis in genus zero, and then in genus one, explain the computation of the Green’s function on the Tate curve. We shall then discuss representation theoretic ramifications of a result of Fan Chung and Yau on the heat kernel on the infinite regular graph. We shall also mention some basic heat kernel computations on Q_p and the Tate curve. The talk is more about questions rather than answers.
