In this talk I will introduce the developments on the topic of rational points on algebraic curves over finite fields. I will talk about various types of function field towers that serve as a core method in studying the asymptotic behavior of the number of rational points. The talk will also include some applications and some related topics on limit measures corresponding to asymptotically exact families of abelian varieties over F_q.
About Speaker:
Chao Gu is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at SIMIS. He completed his PhD in 2023, at the University of Chicago, under the supervision of Professor Frank Calegari. His main area of research is number theory, including Abelian varieties, and Galois representation
