This paper explains how generative AI aggregators affect content producers&#8217; incentives for quality investment from two novel perspectives: (i) a positive market-expansion effect, by which AI aggregators eliminate information asymmetry between content producers and readers and thereby mitigate moral hazard; and (ii) a negative business-stealing effect, by which comprehensive AI-generated summaries substitute for original content and erode click-through traffic to publishers.
