BEIJING, China – The Yau Mathematical Science Center at Tsinghua University today celebrates a monumental achievement, as Professor Kenji Fukaya has been named a laureate of the 2025 Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences. This esteemed international award honors Professor Fukaya’s groundbreaking contributions to geometry, particularly his foundational work in symplectic geometry and the development of Fukaya categories.
The Shaw Prize, often referred to as the “Nobel of the East,” recognizes individuals who have achieved significant breakthroughs in academic and scientific research. Professor Fukaya’s work provides a deep and powerful framework for understanding the intricate shapes and spaces that arise in modern mathematics and theoretical physics. His research helps bridge the abstract world of pure mathematics with profound questions about the universe’s fundamental structure.
