How Einstein’s equation emerges from CFT

Since Einstein himself, unifying gravity with gauge theory has a long history. On the other hand, calculation of entanglement entropy in CFTD for D>2 has remained unresolved over 30 years. In this talk, based on our works in the last year, I will show how to compute entanglement entropy of CFT in all dimensions. Then, I will demonstrate how to derive Einstein’s equation from CFT entanglement entropy. With time permission, I may provide a concrete and computable realization of the ER=EPR conjecture.
Speaker: Haitang Yang is a professor at Sichuan University. He received his PhD degree from MIT in 2006. After working in UESTC as a senior during 2007-2012, he moved to Sichuan University. His research interest is focused on non-perturbative properties of string theory, entanglement and spacetime, gravitation.


About Speaker: 杨海棠, 四川大学物理学院教授。本科毕业于北京交通大学通讯专业,而后进入中科院应用数学所获得应用数学硕士学位。于Washington University in St. Louis 物理系硕士毕业后进入MIT于2006年获得理论物理博士学位。 2007年归国任电子科技大学教授,2012年加入四川大学。 多年来一直从事弦理论及其相关的研究,近年的研究兴趣主要集中于弦理论的非微扰性质、对偶理论、纠缠与时空、引力理论。
Haitang Yang is currently a professor at Sichuan University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University, followed by a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the Institute of Applied Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. After obtaining a master’s degree in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis, he pursued his doctoral studies at MIT, where he received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in 2006. He returned to China in 2007 and served as a professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. In 2012, he joined Sichuan University. Over the years, he has been engaged in research on string theory and related fields, with recent interests focusing on the non-perturbative aspects of string theory, dualities, entanglement and spacetime, as well as gravitational theories.
