SIMIS Seminar on Derived and Noncommutative Geometry: Rabinowitz Floer theory and formal neighborhoods

Speaker: Yuan Gao

Abstract: Rabinowitz Floer theory originates from the studies of dynamics on a contact-type hypersurface in an convex symplectic manifold, on which fruitful algebraic structures have been studied recently, which have intriguing relations to Fukaya categories and string topology. In this talk, I will discuss the theory for Liouville manifolds and generalizations to Liouville sectors, relate these Floer-theoretic invariants to certain categorical constructions originating from formal algebraic geometry, and address applications to understanding some structures from Floer theory using this algebraic machinery.
